  • Tips for Keeping Your Home Show-Ready

Now that we've gotten your home staged beautifully for pictures, it's time to show off how great your home really is.  Trying to live in your home and keep it ready for showings can sure be a challenge.  No matter what though, remember that a home that shows well sells for more than one that doesn't.  SO, think of it as paying yourself for keeping your home looking great for buyers.

    Exterior
-Keep the grass mowed, weeds pulled, and porches/ decks/ sidewalks swept.

    Interior
-Morning Routine:  Make all beds, load dishwasher, take out trash, tidy up everywhere.  (If you have kids, the tidy part will be undone in a moment, so this could prove to be an all-day event.)
-Always put clean and dirty laundry away.
-Wipe down every surface after it's been used or splashed on (ie sink and counter after washing hands).
    -Keep all toilet seats down.
-Open blinds and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible.

    Turn the Lights On
If you are home before a showing, it is best to TURN ALL THE LIGHTS ON before you leave for the showing.  We wouldn't recommend leaving them on all day while you're at work, but if you happen to be there before a showing, this gives the home a very light/ bright feel that it won't have otherwise.

    Hide/ Stow Away/ Remove Valuables
Any valuable that could easily disappear into a pocket or bag, please keep out of sight and locked away or out of the home.  This includes cash, jewelry, iPods, watches, any small electronic device, or anything that is valuable to you.
